Chevron Rows
A chevron keeps the board as the focus but shifts each row by a seat. Students still look forward, and the person beside them is a little behind or ahead, which cuts down side conversations and makes it harder to read a neighbor’s page.
Use it when
- Instruction plus a bit more personal space
- Rooms where straight rows feel too easy to talk across
- Classes that will sometimes work alone and sometimes look up
Pick something else when
- You need a hard exam layout with fully separated desks
- Group work is the main activity
- The stagger will collide with columns, radiators, or a narrow aisle you already have
