How the seats are placed

Students sit three across, facing the front, with a gap between trios and a gap between rows. They can look up at the board without rotating the furniture, then turn to the two people beside them.

For 27 students, the plan uses 3 rows of seats, and the fullest row seats 12 and the shortest seats 3. The editable grid is 20 cells wide and 13 cells tall, counting the front of the room. There are 9 trios. Empty columns break the seating up (6 gap columns inside the student block).

Three is the smallest group with a majority. Two students cannot deadlock as easily, and nobody sits as far from the work as they can in a six. Trios face the front, so you can still teach from the board and then send them into the group task without rotating furniture.
