Two-student desks with walking gaps between pairs and between rows. This version is built for a class of 34.
How the seats are placed
Desks are set two by two. A walking gap separates pairs from the next pair and from the row behind them, and the screen stays at the front so you can teach and then send them into the pair task.
For 34 students, the plan uses 5 rows of seats, and the fullest row seats 8 and the shortest seats 2. The editable grid is 13 cells wide and 15 cells tall, counting the front of the room. There are 17 pairs, so everyone has a partner. A center aisle runs through the student block.
Pairs are the smallest unit that can talk. Two students share a task, check an answer, or rehearse a sentence, and the gap between pairs keeps the noise from becoming a table of six. This is the layout to use when turn-and-talk is the habit, not the exception.
