Single Desk Rows
A gap between desks is the simplest way to stop wandering eyes. Students still face the front, but they cannot read a neighbor’s paper by leaning. Use it for quizzes, exams, and any task you will grade as individual work.

- Students who are distracted by a shoulder-to-shoulder neighbor
Pick something else when
- Pair talk is part of the lesson
- You need to conserve floor space for a very large class
- The room is too narrow for separated columns
